TNE Editor helps Biometria streamline the update of their forest truck road data

In Sweden there are over 200,000 km of forest roads, which is a prerequisite to be able to run an efficient forestry management and transport the harvested roundwood out of the forest. Information about forest roads, together with public, municipal, and other private roads is stored in the National Road Database (NVDB). The Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) is responsible for the NVDB, where road data is both updated and retrieved by different actors who need this road data for planning of transports, navigation, road maintenance etc.

TNE empowers Trafikverket to edit, store, and provide information about the Swedish road network

The National Road Database (NVDB), one of the country’s master databases, is a cooperation between the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), Sweden’s municipalities and regions, the forest industry, the Swedish Transport Agency, and the Land Survey. Trafikverket is the main authority for the NVDB and uses the TNE platform to edit, store, and provide the data from the NVDB.

Smartflow enables digital twin

Infrastructure information for railways and roads is important for many parties. This could be for example information related to operations and maintenance, planning data for reconstruction work, map production, navigation, and traffic control. The information always needs to be up-to-date, accurate and complete if it is to be useful. Today the term “Digital Twin” is often used to describe the information in registers where the data is stored.
